Marine Casualties & Investigations
Following a collision, grounding, pollution incident or damage to port property, early local action can be critical to preserving evidence and protecting the principal’s position. Pandi Balt coordinates the response in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Immediate Local Response
Prompt action following a casualty can be important for establishing the circumstances of the incident and protecting the principal's position.
Pandi Balt coordinates the local investigation, assists with the collection and preservation of relevant information and works with the vessel, local authorities and other parties involved.
Surveys & Technical Expertise
Depending on the nature of the incident, independent technical expertise may be required.
We arrange surveys, investigations, laboratory analysis and other specialist assistance and coordinate the involvement of surveyors, lawyers and other professionals required for the matter.
Where a casualty calls for independent condition and damage surveys in Latvia, specialist attendance can also be arranged through Baltic Kontor.
Damage to Port Property
Damage to berths, fenders, terminal equipment and other port infrastructure can result in substantial claims and may lead to detention or arrest of the vessel.
Pandi Balt assists with independent surveys, investigation of the circumstances, negotiations concerning claim security and the subsequent handling of the claim.
Collisions, Groundings & Environmental Matters
We assist with P&I claims arising from collisions, groundings and environmental incidents, coordinating the local response and the specialists required by the Club, Member or insurer.
Claims & Legal Support
The findings of the investigation form the basis for the subsequent handling of the claim.
Pandi Balt assists with negotiations, settlement and related legal matters. Where a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, legal representation can continue through the appropriate proceedings.
Baltic Coverage
Our network in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia allows Pandi Balt to coordinate marine casualty matters throughout the principal Baltic ports and surrounding areas.
