Crew Claims Handling
Injury, illness or death involving a seafarer can require immediate medical, documentary and practical arrangements ashore. Pandi Balt coordinates this local support and the subsequent case work in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Our work covers incidents involving foreign seafarers in Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian ports, as well as matters concerning Baltic seafarers serving on board vessels abroad.
Medical Treatment & Assistance
When a crew member is injured or falls ill, we assist with the practical arrangements required for treatment and continued handling of the claim.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include arranging medical treatment, monitoring medical and rehabilitation expenses and coordinating the documentation required by the Club and Member.
Repatriation
Where a seafarer is unable to continue service on board, Pandi Balt assists with the necessary documentary formalities and repatriation arrangements.
In cases involving the death of a crew member, we assist with the related formalities and practical arrangements required locally.
Employment & Contractual Obligations
Crew claims frequently involve obligations arising from the seafarer's employment agreement or applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Pandi Balt assists Members with the proper fulfilment of these obligations and with the assessment and handling of the resulting claim.
From Local Assistance to Settlement
Our role extends beyond immediate medical or logistical assistance.
We coordinate the local aspects of the matter, maintain the necessary documentation and assist the Club and Member through the subsequent handling and settlement of the claim.
Where legal issues arise, the matter can be handled together with Pandi Balt's maritime legal services.
Baltic Coverage
Crew claims assistance is available throughout Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia through our Baltic network.
